Organizer Bag

This upcycled organizer bag is handmade from material from the “110 Years of Behrensbau. Architecture and History” exhibition in Düsseldorf.

The fabric is reused material from the exhibition, as can be seen from the colors, fonts, and text elements. Stretched over wooden panels, the fabric served as a backdrop for the exhibition texts, which provided information about the history and unique features of the Behrens Building.

We designed the patterns with an eye on the text layout, ensuring that particularly striking elements remain clearly legible. A seamstress from Berlin sewed each bag individually by hand and with a sewing machine. Every piece is one-of-a-kind, so the print may vary slightly from the images shown.

The shape is simple and boxy, with plenty of space and no interior pockets. The material is sturdy, double-layered canvas—printed on the outside, unprinted on the inside. A sturdy metal zipper and a cotton strap handle complete the organizer bag.

The fabric was not originally intended for bag production, but rather for large-scale prints used in exhibitions and advertising. Because it has been repurposed as a flexible textile, the color may lighten slightly over time, which further emphasizes its upcycled look.
