Background

The title of the exhibition is derived from a title of a magazine from Zeilshain and a Yiddish partisan song: Our Courage.

The situation in Europe after World War II is a confusing mess. Lifelines, fates and paths cross. From this wattle of lines, a fragile, temporary network emerges, in which the private and public spaces of Jewish life are negotiated anew: Jewish survivors and refugees are sketched as an active group that stands up for redress, justice and documentation of the Nazi crimes. Seven installations, portraying the cities and counties in Europe, are designed as examples.

The structures of the exhibition vary in relation to the content and objects in terms of their cubature, materiality and construction. However, in detail, the structures follow common aesthetic principles in regards to the strength of the frameworks, surfaces and graphics. Text and graphic areas are harmonised, and every city has an individual colour scheme.
