Background
Developing the design for the special exhibition area along the Archeological Walk on the Museum Island in Berlin, gewerkdesign referred to David Chipperfield’s architectural thesis, which strictly differentiates rooms lit by natural light from artificially lit rooms. The design of the walk focuses on making these two kinds of rooms interact with each other.
Visitors are led through the rooms according to a certain rhythm by objects spotted from afar and by rows of screens with moving images. gewerkdesign also offered solutions for presenting the building history of the Museum Island (scale models on display stands) and giving an overview of the many collections (sample objects).
